When you have children to raise, sometimes working from home can seem like a pipe dream. Being able to work from home is a huge advantage, especially for the moms out there who want to keep working (Any WAHMs out there?). It surely gives you the flexibility to spend more time with your kids and literally watch them to grow up. You just need to remember that if there are leisure of working from home, there is a hardship too.
Here are Some Tips for Work at Home Moms (WAHMs)
Being a work-from-home mom or WAHMs is tough these days, especially if your child is still young and unmanageable. Most of the work-from-home moms are still taking care of their toddlers themselves and believe me when I say it’s very tough. Children often demand a lot of attention, and you don’t want them watching hours of television, just so you can get your work done. Some of the work from home moms out there are often having a hard time managing kids, household chores and their workloads all together, every day.
This is seriously not easy and if you’re not patient enough, you’ll end up stressing or just quitting your job.
We don’t want that to happen. For me, it’s personally fulfilling that I can still do lots of housework, earn money, being a career woman somehow while raising my kid well all at the same time. But one thing is for sure, this is a very, very hard – not kidding at all. So, make our life easier, we’re going to share these simple tips to help you on working from home with your kids.
Most of us are unorganized, but you need this, you really do. You need to keep organized in everything you do. I suggest to keep your workloads, your house chores, and other things you need to do throughout the day organized. It doesn’t have to be perfect but be as organized as you can. It will save you a lot of time and energy.
Time management comes hand in hand with your organizational skills. It sometimes seems impossible to get the job done within a time frame (especially if you have a toddler) but you’ll need to set a time for everything, even if it’s tentative. Upon organizing your daily to-dos, try setting time frame too. This way, you’ll know what’s the priority for the day and what’s doable.
Set Goals and Deadlines for Yourself
Even though you’re very busy being a mother, an employee, and your own person it’s important to set deadlines ahead of time. You tell yourself “That’s okay, the deadline for this isn’t till next week”. It’s very important to get things done ahead of time so you can enjoy the more free time without the stressful time crunch or unexpected hiccups.
Flexibility is one of the most important things. Be as flexible as you can. Remember that if it’s mommy time, let go of work for a while and enjoy time with your kids. They’ll grow faster than you realize. You’ll transform into the supermom that you are when it’s time to kick into gear for work. Just try not to get distracted! It’s hard because you need to focus on work while taking care of your child/ren at the same time. What works for me is setting up an activity that will captivate their attention while I focus on mine.
You need a lot of patience, very strong organizational skills and a cup of coffee to keep you going. At the end of the day, you’ll feel fulfilled. You’ll feel complete. You’ll feel how amazing you are – you can do a lot of things at once and that’s a very big achievement! The smiles and laughs of our child keep all the stress away. Just keep going mommy, you’re doing an amazing job!
